What does the Judgement Tarot Card mean?

Four of Swords Tarot Card Meaning

Element: Air

Function: Intelligence, the mind, sincerity, fairness

The gold tomb is of a knight, although we can’t see the knight, just the perfect carving of him on the tomb. His hands are together as if praying, he is now at rest and at peace. The tomb is yellow, the color of intellect. Or, it could be gold, a sign of victory and virtue.

There is one sword carved into the side of his tomb. The other three are lined up above him. If he were to sit up, he would hurt himself, or would they hurt him? As they are, they are not a threat to him, perhaps just a gentle warning to stay in his place of rest. He could worry about the sward that is laying at his side, but instead, he remains in his restful contemplation.

Next to the three swords, there is a stained-glass window with a woman and a child together. This window indicates the spiritual part of his rest. The woman and child are signs of happier moments in one’s life, the times we will never forget. The knight too was once a vulnerable boy with not a care in the world, his mother by his side. The knight takes these memories with him into the peace, a reminder of the bright and positive world.

The Four of Swords wants us to contemplate. We are not defeated but we should allow ourselves a moment of retreat so that we can take a break from the chaos in the world and use this time to focus. The death in this card is a representation of us taking a break from the intensity of life so that we can gain perspective and decide what is important to us. You need to get your bearings if you want to know which wat to go.

It could also mean that you just need to take some time to gain a better understanding of your thoughts and your understanding of other people. You might seem like being alone is extreme suffering but remember this is not death, it is just some time to gain a better understanding and to fortify yourself.

When Reversed:

If you draw this card inverted, it might mean that you aren’t in a position to retreat from everything perhaps because of your situation or an overactive mind. You may find that people are getting in the way of your being alone. These people don’t want you to be alone as they fear what you might discover in this period.

It might be you yourself who fears what you will discover. It is easier to put up with the constant buzz from everyone including your own mind than it is to clear your mind and listen to the silence. Meditation and mindfulness can help you to calm the mind and overcome your fears.

It is possible that you were obsessed with something in the past, or at least highly focused. This meant that you might not have had the same chance to interact with others and this is seriously affecting your life. You may just be getting over some kind of tragedy in your life.

You may not be in the mood to socialize with others right now and there is nothing wrong or bad with taking some time to be alone. If you are working with others and it isn’t going as you had hoped, the best thing might be to separate from this group.

There will be a need for great contemplation in the future. Learn more about what you really want and figure out how you are going to achieve this. Listen to the advice of others but don’t let them tell you what to do. If you have been making a lot of effort recently, you can look forward to a break soon.

Yes/No Question:

The answer will probably be a yes but you might want to rethink and then ask again.
