What does the Judgement Tarot Card mean?

Page of Swords Tarot Card Meaning

Element: Air

Function: Intelligence, the mind, sincerity, fairness

The Page of Swords has a more positive image compared with many in this suit. There is a young man stood on top of a rocky hill. He holds a sword in both of his hands and the wind blows in his hair. His stance and expression are one of determination. White fluffy clouds are blowing behind him and the trees are also blowing in the wind. The trees represent wisdom, and the mountains in the distance are a sign of stability. There is a flock of birds flying above the clouds, similar to the way the man’s thoughts fly from the man’s head.

He is wearing red boots, the color of passion, and his clothes are yellow, a sign of intelligence. As the wind blows in his face, we see that the journey ahead won’t be easy, but with his sword ready, he is prepared. Though he is alone, he still has the advantage of being higher up, so only he will get in his way. Perhaps he fought his way up the hill, or he needs to fight his way down. It is also possible that he is just defending his position.

Each of the minor arcana Page cards is a sign of something beginning. The Page of Swords represents the start of a thought, of great ideas and inspiration. This is where the ideas in the mind are born and before it has developed into something even greater.

This idea can convert into a study, a theory, a new system, possibly innovation or discovery. This first sign of intellectual pursuits could go on to uncover something of great significance. The truth can cut like a sword, and is often painful, but is important to uncover, nevertheless.

This card is one of idealism. We grasp onto our idea regardless if it hasn’t been tested in the real world. It might be a sign of the truth being revealed and not even social convention can stop it. This truth may lead to justice or fairness. Telling the truth requires bravery, so does seeking justice. Any time there is a necessity for honesty or even fresh ideas, there will be someone who is against it and will try to prevent it.

When Reversed:

In the upturned position, the Page of Swords could mean you don’t have the thoughts or intellectual bravery that you need. You may feel that you aren’t as able as others, yet you continue to find tests for yourself and others, knowing that nobody may pass. You feel like you are insufficient and rather than doing something to advance your skills, learn something new and explore your intellectual capabilities, you continue to challenge others to try and prove you are better. You need to learn to put your money where your mouth is.

It is also possible that you are trying to provoke others, questioning the ideas of others in order to create a disturbance, challenging the authority of others who prefer not to think.

Past:

There may have been a time in the past when you were over-ambitious, maybe a moment when the vision you had provided you with great inspiration. Following your vision may have isolated others who may have helped you. You should focus on learning from past mistakes.

Present:

Now would be a good time to reassess your relationships. Consider whether your personality is a little too strong for some. Other may vale things differently in life so this means that you aren’t necessarily better than they are. Everyone is entitled to live their lives the way they see fit.

Future:

You might be feeling restricted and need to break free. For this, you will have to put the effort in and to see the benefits, you may have to make some sacrifices. You might need to work quickly and my yourself so that you are free to express your own thoughts and ideas.

Yes/No Question:

The answer will be yes.
