Air Signs: The zodiac has three air signs, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Those whose zodiac signs are one of air are normally highly communicative, intelligent, and have the ability to think clearly. People have an excess of air in their chart may often have their heads in the clouds.
Ascendant: The verb ascend means to rise. This points to the sign that rose over the horizon when a person is born. The ascendant is one’s public persona, it is both the physical and personality characteristics of a person as well as their needs.
Aspect: An aspect is how two planets are related. The relationship will mostly contain geometrical angles between planets, which may bring advantages or obstacles.
Astral Plane: The understanding of the human energy field or aura. It like a copy of Earth but a world where everything is neutral. The minds of the soul can get together and convert into new forms.
Astrologer: A person who has mastered the study of the relationship between the stars and planets and how this impacts us. With what they have learnt, an astrologer can create astrological charts which can then provide intimate information and foresight into people, places and objects.
Aura: An element of energy that comes from everything that exists in nature. Auras are not normally seen unless by people who have an understanding of our energies, such as clairvoyants and spiritual healers.
Automatic Writing: Also known as trance writing, a person might seem to be in a state of trance while writing whatever comes to mind. The written message is a communication from an entity that has been sent via the person holding the pen. Sometimes, the words can be in a different language or handwriting to the actual person writing. It may also contain images or symbols and at times, the writing won’t recognize what they have written. This permits the writer to seek advice from the entity or to gain insight into their unconscious.
Birth Chart: A simple astrology tool that uses the date, time and place of someone’s birth to demonstrate various planets’ positions in the signs and the houses during the moment of their birth.
Cardinal Signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn are the 4 Cardinal signs. Those with these zodiac signs create action, however, they can also be rather impulsive.
Chakra: First mentioned in the ancient Sanskrit texts, chakras are spinning wheels of energy that can be found in our body. They are not physical locations, but they have close ties to organs, nerves, glands, and emotions. Chakras are associated with a color, that some might be able to see reflected in an aura. Chakras can reveal a lot about a person’s physical and emotional well-being.
Channeler: This is a person who can receive messages from a spirit guide. Messages can be of advice or opportunities to learn. The channeler’s relationship with the messenger provides great benefits, for example, a spirit guide can help someone to find their way on their spiritual path, or a guardian angel can protect someone from danger.
Clairaudience: One’s inner voice and the ability to listen with clarity. More specifically, it is the ability to hear things that the average human ear can’t, those sounds that can exist in the tangible world or even in other dimensions.
Clairsentience: The clarity of knowledge and thoughts and your inner sense. Clairsentience is the ability to perceive things that others normally can’t. These senses could include smells, feelings, or other sensations. It can also be in the form of psychic messages and the person assumes that it is just some form of revelation.
Clairvoyance: A general term for physic abilities that comes from the French word meaning clear seeing. It is the inner vision that some people possess, allowing them to see more than what is just physical in from of them. This could be related to the past, present, or future.
Conjunct: When two planets occupy the same degree of the birth chart, they are considered to be conjunct.
Cusp: Imaginary limits used to divide the zodiac signs and the houses.
Divination: The intention to communicate with the supernatural or the divine as to predict the future, find the answers to specific questions or the things we don’t understand. Divination is usually a responsibility of Shamans, oracles, priests or prophets. It can also be up to psychics who use Tarot, Astrology, a Ouija Board, or other methods to find answers.
Dream Interpretation: When we interpret dreams, we try to understand the universal symbols and archetypes that are present in dreams and unconscious states. These interpretations are then used to understand how they connect to the person’s life.
Earth Signs: The Earth zodiac signs are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. People of these signs are hardworking and finish the job. They are also sensual and enjoy the finer things in life.
Elements: The four elements are Fire, Earth, Air, and Water, and are known to some as triplicity. Each of the 12 zodiac signs is linked to an element. Fire- Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, Earth- Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo, Air- Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini, Water- Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.
Empath: Empaths are extremely receptive to the suffering and turmoil that others feel. They have strong intuitions when it comes to people’s emotions and possibly on a psychic level. They can also pick up on the moods and ideas of people, groups of people and even animals.
Ephemeris: A book which highlights the precise location of any heavenly body at any point in time. It is a tool frequently used by astrologers.
Equinox: The time where day and night are equal in one day. It occurs when the sun crosses the equator, biannually and normally around the 21st of March and the second around the 23rd of September.
Fire Signs: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are the three fire signs. These people normally have an abundance of energy and explosive natures. They are also known for their volatile tendencies.
Fixed Signs: The fixed signs are important for keeping the balance. Those who are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius will likely be determined and robust.
Feng Shui: Creating a sense of harmony by concentrating on the physical way of things. It involves arranging furniture and other objects in a room so that they become one with the person living there. In order to create peace in a space, one looks to the four elements- earth, wind, air and fire as well as the compass points.
Houses: The sky is segmented into 12 different houses. The houses are all dedicated to a certain aspect of one’s like, for example, career, love, health, etc.
I-Ching: I-Ching is composed of the philosophy of the Yin and Yang. There are 64 hexagram configurations in this 3,000-year-old philosophy. The objective is to create and maintain balance through a messaging system. Coins are thrown in sets of 6. The active male energy of Yang brings forth ideas and puts them into motion. The respective female energy of Yin allows for the ability to adapt and be flexible.
Intuition: Intuition is the ability to know something without having the need for consciously reasoning. All that we have learnt from our previous experiences is stored in our subconscious mind and is this is what we rely on for intuition.
Kabbalah: A Jewish religious belief that meaning “received knowledge” or “tradition” in Hebrew. Not everyone agrees but it is generally believed that Kabbalah is as old as the Torah, with others stating it to have risen in the 13th century. Traditionally, Kabbalah teachings were only passed down orally. It is believed that each element of the Torah (words, numbers, sounds, etc.) have key contents that allow us to understand the full nature of the human soul and therefore, the universe.
Karma: In the West, we refer to this as you reap what you sow, or what goes around comes around. In Eastern philosophies, it refers to cause and effect. Though principally a religious concept, scientists would refer to karma as every action causing an equal and opposite reaction. Karma is another form of finding balance in your life.
Mantra: Mantras were first used to help focus on meditation and achieve a deeper state of relaxation. Mantras focus on the vibrations caused by specific sounds in words or short phrases and are still a key part of meditation today. Regular meditation with mantras can help alleviate a number of physical and emotional symptoms.
Medium: A medium has the ability to contact those who have passed away. This ability enables them to communicate with the loved ones of those who are in a different realm or dimension. It can help those who have lost someone to answer unresolved questions and find some peace after the loss.
Mutable Signs: These zodiac signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. The mutable signs are resourceful and can thrive in all environments.
Natal Chart: Similar to a birth chart, a natal chart is a tool which astrologers use to see the positions of the planets in both the signs and the houses at the time when someone is born. It requires the date, time, and place of the person’s birth.
Near-Death Experience: This is a moment when a person is physically deceased, but they come back to life and can remember what happened to them during this time. People who have had a near-death experience say they rose up and saw their physical body below them. Others were drawn to a light where loved ones waited for them.
Numerology: Numerology is another meaning of divination. Numbers are used to indicate parts of the human condition and the path we take through life.
Opposition Aspect: This is an arc of 180Âş, and it shows that the planets are opposite each other when they are six star signs apart. This could be a sign of tension.
Pendulum: A pendulum can be a range of different objects, but they will always be suspended from a string or a chain. The person who holds the pendulum can ask questions and the universal vibrations can be received by the suspended object, providing a yes or no answer.
Psychic: Psychics can also be called Clairvoyants and can gain knowledge from the conscious of the universe. Psychics are extremely intuitive. Some will employ the use of runes, Astrology or Tarot Cards to assist in finding the necessary answers and foresee the future.
Retrograde: If a planet seems to be moving backwards, it is because it is in retrograde. Retrogrades can cause an upset of the energies. For example, when Mercury is in retrograde, there will be an unusual number of miscommunications. Venus in retrograde might explain why love doesn’t go our way.
Runes: These are another divination tool that some psychics use along with Tarot cards, for example. Runes can be either clay tiles or coins that are inscribed with the Runic Alphabet.
Shaman: A Sharman can be a priest, a spiritual healer, or a medicine man who can communicate with the spiritual world. They will use ritual-like practices and often combine this with chanting in order to heal, make predictions, or gain control over natural events.
Scrying: This is like a sophisticated term for how crystal balls work. The use of intense concentration on a particularly bright surface in order to stimulate Clairvoyance.
Soul: The soul is a non-tangible part of us that powers our mind and personal traits. For some, the soul is the same as your spirit. Some believe that the soul can live on into future lives and incarnations. Others believe that the soul can exist on various ethereal planes.
Soulmate: A soulmate is someone you have shared many experiences with, possibly over different lives together. You have created a deep bond and a profound love. Some people strongly feel that their soulmate completes them, they are the match to their own soul.
Spirit Guides: These are non-physical entities that could be in the form of an extremely enlightened being or the spirit of someone who has passed on. The spirit guides are dedicated to protecting people on Earth, aiding spiritual growth, or providing inspiration. It is frequent for psychics to call on the help of spirit guides during a reading.
Sun Signs: The Earth moves in a path around the Sun. This path takes our planet through 12 constellations that we call the zodiac. The Sun Sign or Birth Sign is the constellation in which the sun was in when you were born.
Synchronicity: The belief that there are no coincidences in life and that each person in the universe is linked by a universal force. The Swiss Psychoanalyst, Carl Jung, defined synchronicity as “meaningful coincidence”.
Tarot: A deck of 78 cards divided into Major and Minor Arcana cards are used as a form of divination. Each card has a specific image and/or symbol based on the universal knowledge of humanity. This includes personality characteristics, life cycles, and the experiences we have gained. Following archetypal behavior patterns and synchronicity, readers can uncover parts of a person’s past and present as well as revealing possible occurrences in the future.
Universal Consciousness: The combination of the memories collected from human experiences and deep-seated knowledge. It was categorized by Carl Jung as archetypes, personalities, moments, images and even metaphors that continue to occur during the existence of humans. Jung was drawn to Tarots because of the portrayal of human nature in the images and how synchronicity to foresee the future.
Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are the three water signs. The water signs indicate people who are extremely sensitive, understanding, and very emotional.
Yoga: A discipline that originated in the ancient Hindu teachings. It requires calm, concentration, and meditation while performing poses and maintaining control over one’s breathing in order to gain a higher state of being. The objective is to free yourself from pain suffering through enlightenment.
