Function: Feelings, love, spirituality, creativity
The Queen is both elegant and beautiful dressed in white and blue, a symbol of purity, the spirit and the mind. Even the cup is more elegant, an elaborate chalice with angels on the handles. Her throne sits on the edge of the shore. It is made of stone and has a huge scallop on the top, which reminds us of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty rising out of the sea. The merchildren carved into the throne represent of natural creativity and emotional powers that we offer the world. The Queen’s feet sit on stones, a sign that she has some foundation below her.
This cup is different from the ones we have seen in the other cards. It is closed. The cup is a mystery as we aren’t sure if it is empty or full, and if it is full, what are the contents? Perhaps the Queen knows what is inside and is leaving it up to the reader to figure it out and contemplate the significance of the chalice. The Queen doesn’t provide an incline but instead simply looks. And maybe it’s only the Queen is able to see what makes this cup so captivating.
It is possible that she is transmitting her thoughts and emotions into the cup, the chalice closed as if to seal her thoughts. She may have used her creative power to turn the cup into a reality and therefore doesn’t hold her thoughts, but it is her thoughts. Creating her cup from her imagination is as easy for her as we create a thought. With intention, the Queen of Cups knows that emotions and thoughts can become a reality. Our imagination and creativity come from our wish to do something and can create something new, whether an idea or a material object. The way the Queen holds the cup shows her love for it.
And so, the Queen of Cups is like Aphrodite and is able to create things from love. She is aware that feelings have the power to create action. She supports others and will offer both her heart and her ear to those in need because of the queen of the ocean and she has a constant source of emotional power.
It is most likely that you are having trouble expressing your emotions, imagination, or possibly your creativity. It might be that you can’t understand others or that you aren’t able to look after them. Perhaps you are struggling to feel a connection with others or even yourself. It would help if you were able to appreciate the importance of a richer inner life.
The Queen of Cups in the upturned position can point to a person who is not in control of their feelings and therefore doesn’t understand them. It is possible that you are frequently moody and make take this out on others, even projecting your flaws onto them. IT may have come to manipulation in order to feel love and not to be abandoned. This only leads to the creation of an emotional void.
There could be an influential female that you are reminded of now and how this person helped you get to where you are today. They have provided you with good values. It may also mean that there was an event in your past where you had to be passionate and sympathetic.
You might need to find more patience at the moment and may find yourself in a more mature, caregiving role, though this is nothing to worry about. It is a chance for you to teach your good values to others.
There will be a time or event in the future that will require great maturity. You will need to call upon your patience and may even some courage in harder times. You will be a support system for someone, and you will need to put aside your issues to help them with theirs.
The answer will be yes.
