Six of Wands Tarot Card Meaning

Element: Fire

Function: Will, activity, Imagination, Beginnings

A man rides a white horse, a symbol of purity, and it is covered in a green robe, the color that shows the energy of life. The man himself is wearing a red robe representing the color of life. He has a laurel wreath on his head, a sign of his wisdom. There is also a wreath at the top of the wand he holds in his hand, the circular shape pointing to completion.

The five young men by his side also have wands. They are saluting the man’s, acknowledging what he has achieved and how well he has managed to bring the people together. It may well be that he has successfully brought together the men from the Five of Wands. Once in a state of chaos, they are now working together.

The man riding the horse has emerged as the leader. He has managed to get the other men to concentrate on bringing their efforts together so that, however, for now, this energy and focus is completely aimed at the leader. The white horse and wreath both show how the man is a role model for the others, leading them in the right direction.

The Six of Wands is a sign of triumph over misfortune and being praised for succeeding. You have done well at bringing things together, whether that’s people or concepts. You possess an individual set of skills that have allowed to reach a place where others acknowledge your talent.

This card is also a slight warning not to let the recognition and gratitude go to your head. You are probably enjoying the attention but don’t let this prevent you from continuing with your work. In time, you will learn if this is a phase to pass through at you will climb off your high horse, or if this is how life is going to be.

If you receive this card, it is important that you appreciate that you have done a good job at something and you should welcome the praise rather than being shy about it. Don’t look at the faults you have and enjoy this time of praise. The grateful for the attention you are getting.

With the Six of Wands, it is critical that people are aware of the opinions of others. Without the five men and their wands around him showing him the honor he has earnt; this is simply a man riding a horse.

When Reversed:

In this position, the Six of Wands points to a person who has accomplished things but they are arrogant about it and need to be more humble. It could be that this person feels like they deserve praise, yet they haven’t done enough for it.  It is also possible that the time for praise is over, but they feel that it should continue.

On the other hand, perhaps you aren’t receiving the praise you deserve. Either you have been overlooked or someone is taking the credit for your efforts. You are humble but be careful that this doesn’t lead you to be taken advantage of.

There may be someone in your life who is making you feel that you aren’t as capable as you really are, and this leads you to a sense of inferiority.

You have had plenty of good times in your past, particularly when you were a child. Enjoy looking back at these times but don’t get lost in them. Decide what made you think of these moments and focus on these positive feelings in the present.

It is possible that you will receive good news. Your diligence will reap the rewards soon. If you have been highly focused for some time, it could be a good moment to relax a little. That being said, don’t completely take your foot off the gas.

Use your past memories to help you set a good example for the future and then look for ways to create new memories. If there are challenges in your way, be practical about removing them. For a successful future, you need to focus on where you want to go and how you are going to get there.
